May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month – a time to honor and recognize the Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander community for their valuable contributions to history and society. The Asian American & Pacific Islander community is a vibrant tapestry woven together by more than 40 diverse countries, encompassing a multitude of languages, dialects, and religions. This rich mosaic is a testament to the incredible diversity and cultural richness within this community.
We take this opportunity to recognize those who have made significant contributions to State Farm.
In the State Farm Archives, we can trace back the roots of Asian American & Pacific Islanders to the 1930s in California. Among the pioneers were State Farm Agents like George Yamamoto, who served from 1930 to 1933 in Sacramento, CA and agent H.Y. Ouchida, who held the position from 1930 to 1938 in Sacramento, CA. These individuals paved the way for others to follow in their footsteps.

I'm very active supporting local musical organizations like Cazadero Performing Arts Camps, Young People's Symphony Orchestra, Berkeley Symphony, San Francisco Opera and Albany Music Fund. Other local affiliations are Berkeley Breakfast Club and the Kiwanis Club of Berkeley. Previously I was a Scoutmaster, Berkeley Troop 5, President NALU chapter--(Now named NAIFA), a Professional Violinist & Violist. A long time ago I spent a year playing violin with the Amsterdam Philharmonic Orchestra where I learned Dutch (now a bit rusty)!
